Rock Hall Celebration Evening

Our schedule for our annual awards night has been a little messed about by the pandemic, just like many other things. So to try to "catch up", we at KYBB elected not to select new recipients of the awards for 2021, and instead give our 2020 winners the chance to have the trophies at home for a year!
With thanks to Councillor Maureen Flitcroft for presenting our 2020 winners with their trophies.
You can see a full list of our 2020 winners on our website.

After a year off, KYBB were back on the 26th of September busking around the Kearsley Scarecrow Festival 2021!

After a whole year lost to the pandemic, the band was delighted that case numbers had dropped, and restrictions had eased meaning... we could have an outdoor rehearsal with the whole band after 14 months apart!

Getting the Band Back Together!

On March the 17th 2020, KYBB had to cancel their in person rehearsal due to COVID-19. At that point, we never could have known that the pandemic would stretch on for over a year, cancelling any plans for a tenth anniversary celebration, and putting any hopes of a tenth anniversary tour to Norway firmly out of reach.

BUT! Thanks to the extraordinary efforts of Musical Director Mark Harrison, KYBB switched over to online rehearsals via Facebook Live, and later via Zoom too, straight away.

Persevering Through The Pandemic

17 March 2021

The COVID-19 Pandemic meant that KYBB couldn't have their usual Awards Night in July this year, so the band all voted to postpone it until we could meet in person.
However, it ended up being that we couldn't actually meet in person right up to the end of the year! So rather than not give out awards at all for 2020, we made full use of our Zoom Pro subscription, and had a virtual awards night!
We were joined by Mayor Linda Thomas and played through some pieces, gave out our awards, and even had a little Christmas Quiz to keep some of the party atmosphere going.

A Virtual Awards Evening for 2020

25 December 2020

Although the COVID-19 pandemic has scuppered any hopes of an in-person celebration, KYBB turned ten years old on the 17th of May 2020.
We have put together a short video showing some select clips from the history of the band on our YouTube channel at this link: https://youtu.be/W8wSEs5ZAf8
Happy birthday KYBB!

KYBB Turns Ten!

17 May 2020

The festive period of 2019 was undoubtedly our busiest yet, and made all the more challenging as our MD Mark Harrison was performing almost nightly on “Gypsy” at the Royal Exchange Theatre in Manchester – so superstar Ethan McKnight stood in to conduct on many occasions.
On Tuesday 26th November we played a concert of Carols and Christmas Music with our friends from The Salvation Army for a community audience. Both Mark and Guest M.D. Trevor McKean ensured that levels of audience participation remained high.
On Saturday 30th November we played at the annual Christmas Lights' Switch On at The Grapes in Prestolee, but also a little earlier in the evening performed a short carol session on Brackley Street in Farnworth.
On Tuesday 3rd December we played a selection of Christmas Carols to celebrate with our community the switch on of the Kearsley Christmas Tree Lights.
Saturday 7th December was a hugely busy day for the band with three engagements in the calendar.
Firstly, we spent an enjoyable afternoon playing Christmas Carols for the customers and staff of The Bolton Christmas Tree Farm.
In the early evening we played a set of Christmas music at the family home of Luke Whittaker for their commemorative Christmas Lights Switch-on, where a good sized crowd had gathered to sing along whilst the band played. We finished the day visiting a number of the local hostelries and restaurants where we played half a dozen Christmas Carols at each venue.
Saturday 14th December was a very soggy night but neither the band's or our audiences' spirits were dampened as we did a second festive tour of local hostelries. A big thank you must go to the Owners, Staff and Customers of The Unity Brook, The Grapes, Kearsley & Ringley Conservative Club, La Roma and The Horseshoe for allowing us to perform a number of Christmas Carols at each of their premises.
