This September marked another year with KYBB helping the local community to celebrate the bi-annual scarecrow festival. We had lots of fun and even surprised the mayor with his first conducting gig!

We finished the term with our fabulous awards night. Our parents came to support the band members and friends from all over flocked in to help us celebrate a wonderful night.

We finished the year strong with many caroling engagements and a concert in St Stephen's Church and our own concert at Kearsley Mount Methodist Church.

Christmas 2023

The band were again invited to play Brass at the Seaside in St Anne's. It was a lovely sunny day, but as you looked out to sea you could see a huge storm brewing. We managed to finish our set but whilst the next band were setting up the heavens opened.

9 July 2023

On the 30th of June 2023, we held our 13th annual awards night at St John Fisher RC Church in Kearsley. It was a wonderful evening celebrating the achievements of our members, and huge congratulations go to this years winners. We had two new awards presented this year, the Dean Mowers Trophy for the Most Promising Young Performer, which is for a Training Band member who shows exceptional performance promise, and the Elite Percussion Award for the best percussionist.

On the 28th of March, KYBB were joined by Kearsley Training Brass Band for a jam-packed concert to end the Spring term. KTBB featured a number of soloists who gave it their all performing for friends and family, with support from Musical Director Sue Stirzaker and helpers Nellie & Gabby.

A Rousing End to the Term

We had a wonderfully busy Christmas this year, playing at Walkden Cricket Club, the Ellesmere Centre, Bolton Christmas Tree Farm, and of course around our community each Friday night in December for our Carol Crawls!

Kearsley Youth Brass Band are delighted to be represented in this year’s M&S Home & Clothing Christmas advert, in partnership with Neighbourly.
Neighbourly is a giving platform, which helps businesses connect and make a positive impact in their community, and this year they have partnered with Marks & Spencer so that your Christmas shopping benefits good causes in the UK.
At the end of August, secretary Rhiannon Harrison saw the call-out from Neighbourly to tell them about a great cause to be featured in a Christmas advert, and got in touch to let them know all about the wonderful Kearsley Youth Brass Band. Shortly afterwards, a whirlwind commenced as ET Casting got in touch – they wanted to have Kearsley Youth Brass Band represented in the advert, but there was still no indication as to who exactly this advert was for…
