The youth band were honoured to once again lead the Remembrance March through Kearsley this year on the 13th of November. Our congratulations go to those for whom it was their first time marching, and also our principal cornet player Gabriella Campion for their first ever Last Post.

On Sunday 25th of September, KYBB played around the community to support the Kearsley Scarecrow Festival - and some of our wonderful members turned themselves into scarecrows for the occasion too!

We always love joining in with this fabulous community event, and this year was no different. The band played before the festival prizegiving at Kearsley Mount Methodist Church, before travelling on to the Grapes Funfair and finishing off at the Horseshoe.

The 19th of July 2022 wasn't just the hottest day in UK history (so far), but it was also the day we decided to hold our end of year celebration concert! Whilst we can debate the wisdom of holding it on such a warm evening, there is no arguing with the fact that it was a fabulous evening, and a fitting way to end such a fantastic year.

Our training band kicked off the evening with a plethora of soloists, performing to a simply packed church!
Huge congratulations go to Annie, Ember, Mabel, Kensi, Tilly, Lily, Kaleigh, Amelia, Summer, Charlotte, Emily, and Darcy for their wonderful solos!

What an end to the year!

A brand new festival to Kearsley this year, KYBB performed at the first Sausage & Cider Festival on the 26th of May this year. It was a fantastic, sunny Saturday and our members got the chance to enjoy sausages, ice cream and for the adult members, a little cider too!

On Sunday the 1st of May, KYBB travelled down to Birmingham to play outside the European Brass Band Festival on Centenary Square. It was a wonderful day, with staff from Brass Bands England complimenting the music choices and all our young people playing brilliantly!
The European Brass Band Festival was taking place inside Symphony Hall, featuring the greatest brass bands from across Europe and the UK, and it was an honour to be involved as a part of the festival.
From a photographers point of view it's a pity we had that horrible white overcast - why couldn't one of Birmingham's favourite musical sons (Jeff Lynne) have not organised a bit of 'blue sky' for us?

KYBB got back to Christmas carolling after the lockdown Christmas of 2020 and had an absolute blast!

MD Mark was away working on the Thursford Christmas Spectacular, so superstar deputy Ethan McKnight and Training Band MD Sue Stirzaker took over for the Christmas period.

In 2020, the streets of Kearsley were quiet on Remembrance Sunday as parades up and down the country were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This only served to make the 2021 Kearsley Remembrance Parade on the 14th of November even more special for the band and for the community.
